Code Colours
For ease of voltage identification accessories are coloured. This is in addition to labels which give full details of voltage, ampere rating, number of poles etc. The code colours are:

Amaplast
Amaplast is a thermoplastic material produced to the highest quality control standards. It has excellent electrical insulating properties combined with exceptional resistance to abrasion, heat, cold, ageing, oil, petrol and sea water. it is fire-resistant,i.e. self-extinguishing and is tough, dimensionally stable and virtually unbreakable.
POSITION OF THE EARTH CONTACTS - BS4343
Plugs and sockets with maximum rated voltage above 50V must have earth contacts. Plugs are provided with a nose (or 'key') and this locates in a keyway in the socket. This ensures that the correct contact pins and tubes - particularly the earth contacts - are correctly mated together. The position of the earth contact relative to the keyway depends on the electrical rating of the plug and socket.
The earth contact positions are designated by clock face hour positions. The earth contact pin has a larger diameter than the other pins thus preventing the hazardous possibility of joining the earth pin to a phase contact tube.
Position of Earth Contact Tube relative to major keyway for various voltages and frequencies. Position designated by clock face hour positions, BS4343-CEE17
