The Government guidance for tradespeople working in people’s homes in England, now allows standard work to go ahead, provided that it is safe to do so, Public Health England (PHE) guidelines are being followed (social distancing, hygiene and cleaning routines etc.), a risk assessment has been undertaken, and mitigating measures to reduce the risks have been introduced.
The full guidance “Working safely during COVID-19 in other people’s homes” can be viewed here and while it does allow more work to take place, it does still specify that work should not be undertaken in a household where someone has symptoms or is being asked to shield.
Communicating with households prior to arrival, and on arrival is key to ensure the household understands the social distancing and hygiene measures that should be followed once work has commenced.
To help facilitate this, the ECA has a great letter template you can use to advise your customers how you plan to work safely in their homes and our Stay Safe infographic can be downloaded and sent to your customers beforehand, so that they know what to expect.
In addition, we have a wide range of Personal Protective Equipment and anti-bacterial products available to help you get back to work safely. You can view the range here and then just contact your local CEF store for more information.
