The Website www.cef.co.uk is operated by City Electrical Factors (we", "us" or "our") and we are a "data controller" for the purposes of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679. How long we will use your personal information
We shall retain your information whilst you remain a customer, should you not trade and there is no good business reason to retain your information we will delete your information one year after the month of the final sale or on receipt of your request to be deleted whichever is the sooner, unless we are required by law to retain your personal information for a longer period.

Where necessary to fulfil our obligations to you, we may pass your personal information to third parties where this is necessary for the functioning of our business and the purposes set out in the table 'Purposes for which we will use your personal information'. In order to process your application and during our relationship with you, we will perform credit and identity checks on you with our chosen credit reference agency ('CRA'), Equifax. Before we provide services, goods or financing to you, we undertake checks for the purposes of preventing fraud and money laundering, and to verify your identity. These checks require us to process personal data about you.
To do this, we will supply your personal information to Equifax and they will give us information about you. This will include information from your credit application and about your financial situation and financial history. Equifax will supply to us both public (including the electoral register) and shared credit, financial situation and financial history information and fraud prevention information.
We will use this information to:
- Assess your creditworthiness and whether you can afford to take the product
- Verify the accuracy of the data you have provided to us
- Prevent criminal activity, fraud and money laundering
- Manage your account(s)
- Trace and recover debts, and
- Ensure any offers provided to you are appropriate to your circumstances.
When the CRA receives a search from us they will place a search footprint on your credit file that may be seen by other lenders. A soft search quotation will not place a search footprint on your credit file.

To protect your personal information, we have policies and procedures in place to make sure that only authorized personnel can access the personal information, that personal information is handled and stored in a secure and sensible manner and all systems that can access the personal information have the necessary security measures in place. To accomplish this, all employees, contractors and sub-contractors have roles and responsibilities defined in those policies and procedures.
To make sure all employees, contractors and sub¬contractors understand these responsibilities they are provided with the necessary training and resources they need.
In addition to these operational measures, we also use a range of technologies and security systems to reinforce the policies.
To make sure that these measures are suitable, vulnerability tests are run regularly. Audits to identify areas of weakness and non-compliance are routinely scheduled. Additionally, all areas of the organisation are constantly monitored and measured to identify problems and issues before they arise.

Once we have received your request, we will respond within 30 days.
- The right to object to processing of your data You have the right to request that we stop processing your personal information. Upon receiving the request, we will contact you to tell you if we are able to comply or if we have legitimate grounds to continue. If personal information is no longer processed, we may continue to hold your personal information to comply with your other rights.
- The right to data portability You have the right to request that we transfer your personal information to another controller. Once we have received your request we will comply where it is feasible to do so. Our security procedures mean that we may request proof of identity before we are able to disclose your personal information to you or comply with other requests, this is to maintain the security of your information. in such cases your response will be necessary to exercise this right.
No fee usually required
You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive. Alternatively, we could refuse to comply with your request in these circumstances.
