At CEF, we don’t just connect customers to quality products - we connect with communities, causes, and challenges that matter. That’s why we’re proud to once again sponsor the Doddie'5 Gr4nd S7am Team as they take on the Grand Tour of Scotland 2025.
From 5th to 8th February, the team will ride 700 miles across Scotland, starting in Stranraer and finishing in Edinburgh, raising vital funds for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. This remarkable charity is dedicated to funding research, driving awareness, and ultimately eradicating Motor Neuron Disease (MND).
Inspired by a legend
The Doddie'5 Gr4nd S7am Team was born out of the rugby community’s commitment to supporting one of their own, Doddie Weir, after his MND diagnosis in 2017. Since then, the team has grown to include passionate cyclists and supporters who share a singular goal: to honour Doddie’s legacy and fight for a future free of MND.
In 2024, their efforts smashed records, raising over £216,000 through the "All Roads Lead to Rome" challenge. Now, in 2025, they’re back with an even bolder mission, engaging schools, clubs, and communities along the route to amplify their impact.
The Grand Tour of Scotland
The 2025 challenge will see teams traverse stunning landscapes and iconic Scottish landmarks, including the Trossachs, Braemar, and Royal Deeside. Rugby clubs across the country will host the riders, providing meals and accommodation, and community members will join to raise awareness.
To expand their outreach, a special "pod" of the team will travel to Wales and Ireland before joining the main route. This additional leg includes school visits to engage young people in the conversation about MND and inspire action.
How you can help
The fight against MND requires all of us. Here’s how you can join us in supporting this incredible cause:
Spread the Word: Share the team’s journey and raise awareness about the critical need for MND research.
Get Involved: Donate to the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation or follow the team’s progress on social media.
Cheer Them On: From Stranraer to Edinburgh, communities along the route can show their support in person.
This journey might be tough, but as Doddie himself said: “If you get a chance to do something, take it. It might be your one and only chance.”
