What the government’s new EV support means for installers

The UK government has just made a bold move to speed up electric vehicle (EV) adoption – announcing discounts of up to £3,750 on new EV purchases. For drivers, this lowers the upfront cost. But for installers and infrastructure providers? It’s a signal. A clear sign that demand is about to shift up a gear.

At CEF, we see it as another driver of change – and an opportunity for our customers to lead the charge.

Why this matters: The bigger EV picture

To understand where this announcement fits, you need to look at the broader landscape. The EV market is no longer a fringe concept – it's a cornerstone of the UK’s Net Zero 2050 strategy.

  • One in four new car sales in the UK is now electric.

  • 82,000+ public chargers have been installed – a 30% YoY increase.

  • EV charging infrastructure is on track to grow to £4.6 billion by 2030.

  • Government support includes the £381m LEVI Fund and £950m Rapid Charging Fund.

But growth is not the same as accessibility. Infrastructure gaps remain – especially outside major cities. And that’s where end-of-trip (EOT) installations come into focus.

EOT is the next big opportunity

Whether it’s a fleet depot, public car park, police station, or delivery hub, end-of-trip (EOT) installations are becoming essential infrastructure. It’s not just about charging cars. It’s about enabling entire sectors to go electric.

And these installations don’t happen without you – the contractors, engineers, and project leads making it real.

Why CEF? Because you're going to need a partner who gets it

From rapid chargers costing up to £80,000, to residential wall boxes at £500, and everything in between – you need a supply partner who understands the urgency, complexity, and scale.

That’s where CEF comes in.

  • A national network with local stock – ready when and where you need it

  • Deep product knowledge across EV and renewables

  • Relationships with the biggest names in the game – and the ability to scale alongside your projects

We’re not just keeping pace. We’re helping you get ahead.

Let’s build the future together

The demand is growing, the funding is flowing, and the infrastructure challenge is clear: 5,000–7,000 public chargers must be installed every month to hit the UK’s 2030 goals.

That’s a huge opportunity. And we’re ready to help you grab it.
